Vision

‘Digital Connect has broken all barriers; it has reached in the hands of remotest communities, poorest of the poor and the under-privileged. This resource brings a great opportunity to enable human development by building sustainable models and solutions that make real difference between life and death for millions. No woman should die anymore while giving birth to a child, no child should be left without education, no youth should remain unskilled, no farmer should succumb with his produce, and above all no voice should be left unheard.’
The last two decades has witnessed ‘Connectivity’ reaching billions of people including rural, poor and under-privileged. For years, we have struggled to provision food, shelter, clean drinking water, toilets, health and education to all. But this man-made resource – Connectivity, which reaches everyone, makes a difference between life and death for poor and marginalised. It is time for all of us to seize this opportunity to provision timely information and connect them with lifesaving services.

ZMQ has been a pioneer in Technology for Development (T4D) since 1998. It is the only southern organisation which has scaled its programs to over 11 countries of Africa including 9 countries of East Africa namely DR Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania (Zanzibar), Uganda and 2 countries of West Africa namely Sierra Leone and Senegal. We have implemented Technology for Development solutions across India, Afghanistan, Myanmar and Nepal in South Asia.

ZMQ envisions the use of technology with a progressive approach integrated with emerging technologies like AI, IOT & Quantum Computing with existing models using Application and Mobile Development, both for feature and Smartphones to accelerate development in the underserved and disconnected communities across Asia, Africa and Latin America.

ZMQ’s vision for development is based on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, father of appropriate technologies.  We envision to empower rural, underprivileged, poor and marginalised communities of the south to design, develop and implement technologies and eventually have ownership of their data and solutions in achieving development.
