In the era of technology, ZMQ uses an innovative approach called ‘Triple Impact Model’, a strategy to harness latest approaches of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI) ; Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) to deliver life-saving and sustainable solutions to millions of poor and rural communities of the global south based on the principles of Data Justice. The model is based on the 3 key pillars – IOT for Development, AI for Development and Research for Development.
Three Key Components:

IoT & Data Sourcing
Collecting grassroot Data & embed IoT tools in the ecosystem of the disconnected regions to generate data and knowledge of the ground. The process is based on Data Justice.

AI for Dev
AI for Development models are designed to empower communities by building and training models to deliver lifesaving and life-improving outputs and tools for solution providers and;

Research 4 Development
Research for Development generates evidence by building models & applications and; scientifically testing them so that solutions can be applied for human development.
ZMQ’s AI4Dev Centre is working on number of programs where AI can help us to forecast patterns and make critical decisions to save lives in rural parts of Asia and Africa like detect childhood pneumonia through cough of children. We are working on ‘AI for slums’ model to solve complex public health challenges related to WASH (Water, Sanitation; Hygiene) and spread of infectious diseases. We are also working a model of reporting
gender-based violence in refugee settlement of Africa (in Uganda and South Sudan).
